What is it? It started off as a challenge from us to you, our Canadian family to rock your kicks through the month of December, regardless of the weather. So many of us sneaker lovers hesitate to rock our kicks during the winter. But we figure, what better way to round off the year by WEARING OUR SHOES.
Eventually, the countdown turned into a way for us to give back. After all, this is the month of giving. So it went from a challenge to a contest. This means there will be prizes! Specific prizes are yet to be announced. But brands like New Era Canada, Jason Markk and Nike Toronto have jumped on board to supply some goodies.
How do you enter this contest? – Be a Canadian. Sorry! (If you happen to live outside Canada, don’t worry. Just know we see you and we’ll take note)
– Post a shoefie. ON FOOT SHOTS ONLY!
– Use the hashtag #CGSTO2019
– 1 Post = 1 Entry per day (Not including BONUS entries)
– Stories do not count
– Repeat pairs don’t count! Has to be a different pair for every day of the month
– Account must be public
– Contest runs from December 1st to the 31st
– Prizes will be raffled off and winners will be announced in the New Year!
Along with regular entries, we’ve come up with special ways for you to get bonus entries. One of which, is to donate to our charity page for Ronald McDonald’s House Charity. For every $5 donated to RMHC Canada, one bonus entry will be rewarded.
Last year we raised $600 with the help of our family. This year, we started off with a goal of $1000 but in less than 12 hours of announcing this initiative, you guys smashed it. In order to do you all justice, we felt the need to double it. On top of raising funds for this charity, we’ve planned another initiative to give back more to the community.
We have teamed up with Josh Scott (@jbsgldstk), Owner of The Dirty Bird Chicken + Waffles (@dirtybirdTO); and his close friend, Brandon Prince (@beepee29), for the Recycled Soles Challenge. This challenge will be sponsored by The Dirty Bird Chicken + Waffles and Yonge Street Mission (@yongestreetmisson). We’re challenging you to donate lightly used sneakers and boots to local charities and shelters. Every pair you donate will equal one bonus entry. You need to record a video of yourself dropping off footwear donations and then you have to challenge three of your friends to do the same! Make sure you post it in your feed or it won’t count!
We’re more than half way through the Countdown and we’ve no words for the amount of support and participation you’ve all been giving us.
Thank you so much! Good luck everyone!
And don’t forget to rock your kicks and use the hashtag #CGSTO2019 for a feature!
