Yesterday we were invited to Nike Toronto’s Future Forward event at their Site 97 space. The event was an art installation created to help announce the release of the newest Air Max model to receive the “Ultra” treatment, the Air Max 97.
Similarly to the Air Max 1, 90, and 95, the Air Max 97 is essentially a slimmed-down, modernized version of the classic silhouette. Updated materials and a more streamline shape make these a great option for everyday use. You still get the look of an Air Max 97, but this updated version is a perfect commuter option for someone who is running around all day.
The upper is lightweight knit built, but is still highlighted by the strips of 3M that the Air Max 97 has become renowned for. The air bubble is slightly slimmer, especially at the heel cup, meaning you’re lower to the ground, which gives you a very sturdy ride. Also, the air bubble’s PSI is lower, which means for a softer on-foot feel. Overall the sneaker is much more lightweight, and is ideal for long periods of wear; the comfort is on point.
Nike is making a huge push with their Air Max 97 line, so along with the classic silver bullet colourway expect to see a ton of other options in the Air Max 97 and also the Air Max 97 Ultra this month for both men and women.
Look for the Air Max 97 Ultra collection to release this Saturday at Foot Locker Canada and on Nike.ca alongside Nike’s array of other OG Air Max 97 launches.
