Crown League Semi-Final Recap

This past Friday, we were invited by our good friends over at Nike Toronto to take in the action of Crown League’s semi-finals.

This was my first time attending Crown, but I had heard tell that it was a crazy dope atmosphere, and the energy in the room was of NBA caliber, so needless to say, I was excited. So with my girl on my arm, we strutted over to the media tent to get our passes, and we were ready to go.

The first game was crazy! The stakes were for a place in next week’s finals, and you could tell by the play on-court that both teams were out to punch a one-way ticket to glory. Pascal Siakam of the Toronto Raptors joined his brother on team ACE, and provided a fair share of highlight reel dunks and ‘oops throughout the game.  But after a buzzer beater put-back to push the game into overtime, the folks over at M.A.D.E managed to inch their way past a feisty ACE squad.

The second semi-finals match was highlighted by the the kid, Brady Heslip, proclaimed by Akil Agustine to be the best shooter in Canada (shout outs to (Sniper Phil). Brady, who was lighting it up from nearly half-court during the fist half, was unable to hit from distance for much of the second frame, and the boys over at 6Man were able to squeak their way into the finals.

Aside from the on-court action, the fans in the stands kept up a high-energy atmosphere for much of the night, and the players delivered with stellar play. Cory Joseph, the {former} Toronto Raptors golden child, was in attendance to soak in the action, and plenty of other local Toronto legends were also in the building.

All in all, I had a crazy good time, and I want to extend one more thank you to Nike for having me. We’ll be in the house for the finals, so check out our Instagram and Instagram Story for updates throughout the evening, and watch for a full recap soon after the games have been decided.
