Last night, the Canada Got Sole team was invited to Nike’s opening night of the third season of Crown League and it was a great time.
Inside Ryerson University’s Kerr Hall in the heart of downtown Toronto, six teams will compete to “Claim Royalty”. The night was filled with music, a great crowd, good vibes and three games of great, Canadian basketball.
Onsite, Nike had a Crown League pop-up shop to pick up some Crown League tees, and hats. Food and drink were available to keep you fuelled for the night as well. Music was provided by a good mix of DJs including DJ Jynx, DJ Phenomenal and featured DJ, Baby Yu. Akil Augustine, from NBA TV, was on the mic providing commentary and made for some entertaining ball games.
The talent on court was impressive. The players come from Pro Leagues around the world, and played for teams in the NBA, CIS, D League and more. Watching them putting in work on the court was a treat!
Being Canada Got Sole, we obviously couldn’t go through the night without looking down at all the feet. Seemed like everyone decided to show up to week 1 with heat on and off the court. Players were laced up in Kevin Durant’s newest signature shoe, the KD10. Flyknit, rope laces, and full-length Zoom Air graced the court all night; and probably will for weeks to come.
Off court had some craziness on feet too. Oregon Foamposites, Jordan Ginger IVs, Gold Bullet Air Max 97s, and a plethora of Jordan Retros. Obviously my favourite pair of the night was the upcoming Nike SB x Thomas Campbell Dunk High rocked by homegirl and Toronto-local @Hardie_Girl. Yes. My heart was skipping plenty-a-beat just staring at them. Event staff were laced up too, rocking white Flyknit Air Force 1 Lows ensuring the night went smoothly.
Nike Basketball and Nike Toronto, thank you for having us! Can’t wait to see what Week 2 has in store.
