Today marked the release of Adidas’ newest addition to their Yeezy line with the launch of the ‘Cream’ Yeezy Boost 350 V2. Adidas has now released seven different executions of the V2’s, and the Cream colourway is the most summer-ready of them all.
The entirety of the sneaker’s upper is comprised of a thick layer of Adidas’ patented Prime Knit technology, making for a sock-like fit. In place of the traditional contrasting ‘stripe’ down the lateral side of the sneaker, there is a plain white stripe that is nearly unnoticeable in some lighting. At first glance, it appears that the iconic “SPLY 350” graphic is absent, however, if you take a closer look, you can see that it is actually stitched into the stripe in an off-white thread.
Although it is an all-white sneaker, Adidas has used various shades of white in order to create depth and design while still maintaining a simplistic overall feel. The bright white stitching down the toe box and heel of the upper provide a striking contrast, but also blends well with the mostly-cream upper.
Continuing the “50 Shades of White” theme, the laces, lining and heel tab are both slightly paler than the rest of the sneaker. The heel tab could even be described as having an “aged white” look to it. Bringing everything together is a mildly translucent outsole wrapped around a full-length Boost cushioning system. Something to note, the rubber outsole overlaps itself when it reaches the heel of the shoe; making a panel of the sole appear almost pale yellow. I’d say this would be a good way to weed out fakes, however, the production on fake pairs has become so advanced that I’m sure they’ve even managed to replicate that.
When I first saw pictures of the sneaker, I was not the biggest fan. But after I was able to get a pair in hand, I knew these were an auto-cop for me. The shoe is so clean on-foot, and I cannot wait for a nice summer day to bust these out. Overall, production numbers on these seemed quite high, so I hope that everyone who wanted to get a pair was able to. It really seems like Kanye is living up to his promise and is doing his best to ensure that everyone will own a pair of Yeezys.
