Chuck Taylors have never been this light…
Today Converse dropped a revolutionary new iteration of their most iconic model; the classic Converse Chuck Taylor Hi is now available with a Nike Flyknit constructed upper. Nike, being a parent company of Converse, lends its’ lightest, and most form-fitting tech to the Chuck Taylor; and boy is this a match made in heaven.
Contrary to the Chuck Taylor’s usual canvas upper, the Flyknit technology offers a more modern update to the classic silhouette. The seamless fit of the upper provides a fit that hugs your foot in all of the right places. A clear, thin, layer of rubber gives the look of the traditional rubber toe-cap, maintaining the classic Chuck Taylor look. One of my favourite aspects of the shoe is the elongated tongue (which is also composed entirely of Flyknit) that extends about an inch above the collar.
Similarly to Converse’s Chuck II, the Flyknit variation bolsters a full-length Lunarlon insole; offering performance-type comfort while still allowing for the sneaker’s well-known rubber outsole to be used. Writing this post now, I have been wearing the shoes for going on 6 hours, and I am experiencing zero discomfort.
Converse has been churning out some amazing new products as of late, so kudos to them for continuing to push the envelope. The Nike Flyknit pack by Converse is now available at retailers such as Foot Locker Canada, SportCheck, Exclucity, and Livestock.
